Exploring Culture, Power & Identity Through African Stories

Hello everyone,

I’m 'Funmilola, a screenwriter from Lagos, Nigeria, now based in Nairobi, Kenya. My writing explores how culture, tradition, and power shape modern African life — through grounded, character-driven stories that blend humor, tension, and social insight.

My recent project, KABIYESI, was shortlisted for the Red Sea Film Series Labs, where I advanced to the interview stage. It’s a satirical family drama set in contemporary Nigeria, exploring the cultural and political theatre behind royal succession. I was also recommended for the ACTV 2025 Initiative, another experience that helped sharpen my creative direction.

I’m currently developing new projects rooted in African culture and contemporary themes, and I’m open to connecting with producers, writers, and creatives interested in collaborating or developing content for film or streaming.

Always happy to exchange ideas and share perspectives on storytelling.
