Looking for Advice on Getting an Agent as a Writer/Director

Hi Everyone,

I’m a writer-director based in Spain, and I’m finishing post-production on my first feature film. It’s the first project in a larger connected horror/thriller universe called Pennyville. I already have three additional feature scripts written, outlines for more, and I’m close to finishing a novel and several short stories that also take place in the Pennyville world.

My question is about the best timing and approach for seeking representation as a writer/director:

Is it wiser to approach agents now, before the festival run begins, or wait until the film (hopefully!) gets some festival traction and approach them during/after that?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s walked this path — especially about what helped you get the attention of agents or managers.

Thanks so much!
