Hi, my name is Matt Thompson. I wanted to reintroduce myself with a new outlook now! I've only been on stage 32 for about a month now and wow, let me tell you I've learned a lot! Within about 1-2 months I've written two full scripts for feature films. My first full feature film is in my profile, The Write In. I submitted the pitch and was quickly humbled by a manager. It scored okay overall. But the comments section in my pitch review really opened a new perspective.
Since then, I've finished now a second full feature that I am extremely proud of - Patterns of Attraction. The feedback I received from the manager on my first feature, I addressed all the concerns on this second feature. You can check my loglines for a full outline on that one.
Here's the cover photo I created.
This film is an R rated Drama, Comedy, Thriller.
Tone is 10 Things I Hate About You, Limitless, Mean Girls
A brilliant but outcast student, bribed to manipulate a popular girl as a social experiment, discovers that understanding people isn't a game-it's messy, emotional, and dangerous. As alliances shift and secrets surface, he must navigate deception, jealousy, and his own moral code- or lose the only people who truly see him.
Hi, Matthew Thompson. Writing two feature scripts in 1-2 months is really impressive! Congratulations! Glad to hear you've learned a lot on Stage 32!

It's great to see you here, Matthew Thompson! Amazing work getting 2 features written, honing your craft, taking and implementing notes from y our rep, leaning into the resources here to evolve as a screenwriter - BRAVO!! The log line for Patterns of Attraction is really well crafted IMHO and sets the table - you may even be able to beef up the first sentence a little and only have a one sentence logline - you set the characters, stakes, conceit and tone so well in that first sentence. It even calls to mind 80's comedies like ZAPPED - while that movie was pretty campy, a morality tale set against school dynamics resonates. Check out this webinar on creating loglines taught by Christopher Lockhart, one of the top story editors in the industry and a great guy who is super generous with his knowledge and experience: https://www.stage32.com/education/products/how-to-make-your-logline-attractive-to-a-list-actors-producers-directors-managers-agents-financiers-and-development-execs

that sounds like a really cool story, Matthew! One thing I love about your introduce yourself post is the fact that you got notes and instead of getting defensive about them, you listened and made it into collaborative process to get better. So much of working in Entertainment is being able to be a good collaborator. I really look forward to watching your journey!
