My background isn’t very linear. I come from a media and storytelling environment, but most of my work over the past year has been quiet, solitary, and deeply internal: building a story world, its emotional logic, and its long-term narrative spine before worrying too much about format or packaging.
I’m especially drawn to projects where genre is used as a vessel rather than a destination — stories that explore identity, memory, power, and human fracture beneath the surface. I tend to work from atmosphere, subtext, and character psychology first, then shape structure around that core.
Right now, I’m at a stage where I’m starting to connect with other filmmakers — writers, producers, designers — who value process, emotional precision, and long-term thinking. Not rushing into roles or labels, just conversations that feel aligned and honest.
Looking forward to learning from this community and exchanging perspectives.
Glad to be here.

Welcome, Oanh Bui! I’m Ashley, Head of Community at Stage 32, and I love how clearly you articulate your process. Building the emotional logic and long-term spine before worrying about packaging is something so many strong creators instinctively do, even if the industry doesn’t always talk about it that way.
You might find some great alignment in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting) and the Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing), where a lot of thoughtful, process-driven conversations happen around long-form storytelling and development. If you’re open to a deeper creative container, the Writer’s Room can also be a really supportive space to explore ideas like this alongside other writers thinking long-term. There’s currently a free month available if you want to take a look: https://www.stage32.com/writers-room/plans-vip.
If at any point you want guidance on education that supports development, tone, or series craft, our Education Team is always happy to make personalized recommendations (Edu@Stage32.com). And when you’re ready to think about next steps or aligned collaborators, the Success Team can help point you toward curated resources and connections (Success@Stage32.com).
I’m really glad you’re here. This community has a lot of people who value exactly the kind of intentional, honest process you’re describing, and I’m looking forward to seeing how your project evolves.
