CELEBRATIONS A comedy Series.
Setting
Celebrations is a self contained catering hall that caters all sorts of
celebrations; weddings, bar mitzvahs, birthdays, anniversaries, retirement,
New Years, wakes, divorce could make for some interesting dramas) etc.,
anything for which a catered party is appropriate. Much of the action
takes place ni the offices of the catering hall and of curse revolves around
the particular celebration.
Characters
Continuing characters are those affiliated with the caterer; owner, manager,
party planner, band, comic, kitchen help, etc. Additional characters are
introduced as each celebration warrants.
Multiple Story Lines
The lives, loves, comedy, drama of the catering people are dramatized and
interwoven with the characters brought in for each celebration.
Multiple Episodes
Several episodes (in effect a series within a series) all leading up to a particular
celebration (which can be an elaborately produced party). People love
parties and the comedy and drama associated therewith.
(Deer Hunter. Goodbye Columbus, etc.).
Example of Episodes
A divorce party, sort of a reverse wedding. In another two standup comics
are wed and at the wedding they toast/roast each other as well as the guests.
Location
Much of the action will take place in the catering offices as well as the hall
itself. Set design should be simpli ed accordingly.
Performers
Because of the multiplicity of character's continually brought in, new faces
would generate continuing interest.
Collateral ideas
The complications involving food, clothes, music, decorating, seating
arrangements etc. etc.. can contribute to the comedy, etc., also the trials
end tribulations of the participants and their parties
The Angst of the Caterers
They put on great parties but their personal lives are messy
My name is Jay Gordon. I have enclosed an abstract of Celebrations, which is my attempt to put some meat on the bones of the basic idea which has unlimited permutations. I am open to modifications or changes as well as equally sharing credits as well as any income derived from this project. I do not live in LA but can come to the city if necessary. Since I am an older gent I might be unsuitable for an uninvited pitch to the right person or group hence I am contacting you to see if there might be interest. I am financially quite well to do, not a struggling writer and am capable of affording reasonable costs associated with this project. Please feel free to call, email or message me anytime. Thank you for your time.
