Hi everyone!
My name is Mikaël and I’m an emerging film and television composer focused on epic, warm, and emotional music for picture, with a particular interest in documentary and drama.
I have a background as a French horn player, with 15 years of experience in a concert band, which shaped my understanding of orchestral balance, phrasing, and expressive storytelling. Since 2018, I have been writing original cinematic music, exploring how music can support narrative, emotion, and visual pacing in a subtle but impactful way.
My musical voice is rooted in symphonic film music, combining warmth, melodic clarity, and emotional depth. I am especially drawn to human stories, real-life narratives, and dramatic arcs where music enhances meaning without overpowering the image.
I am currently building experience and actively seeking collaborations on short films, documentaries, and narrative-driven drama projects where music plays an essential emotional role.
Happy to connect and to collaborate!
Greetz,
Mikaël

There, I published several of my previous soundtracks, including a Western-themed score accompanying footage of American prairies with wild horses.
Always on the lookout for feedback and collaborations!

Welcome! What got you interested in playing French Horn Mikael?
Hi Amanda Toney
Some 25 years ago, I went to a local band rehearsal where they were looking for young musicians. It only took me a few notes to get overwhelmed by that instrument, and the rest is history…
Welcome, Mikaël—that French horn background gives you such a natural feel for orchestral texture. Your focus on music that "enhances without overpowering" is perfect for documentary and drama. I'd suggest introducing yourself in the Composing & Music Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/composing)—filmmakers there are often seeking exactly that sensibility. When you watch a scene, do you hear a melody immediately, or do you sit with the picture first and let it tell you where to breathe?
