Time Jumps Don’t Fail — Writers Do.
Текст:
Writers often debate whether to include a bridge scene before a time jump.
But I’m starting to think that’s the wrong question.
A time jump doesn’t feel abrupt because time passed.
It feels abrupt because the audience wasn’t told what emotional weight to carry forward.
If the arc is closed, the audience needs release.
If the arc is opened, the jump can be the release.
So maybe the question isn’t:
“Do I need a bridge scene?”
Maybe it’s:
“What unresolved tension am I asking the audience to live with?”
Curious — when has a time jump worked brilliantly for you? And when has it felt like escape?
