Documentary Filmmaker Focused on Cultural Memory & Social Impact

Hello Stage 32 community,

My name is Jose M. Pichardo Jr., and I’m a New Jersey–based documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, and licensed drone pilot.

My work centers on cultural memory, civil rights history, and the emotional geography of place. I’m drawn to stories that preserve underrepresented voices while engaging history with intentional visual language and long-form storytelling.

Recent work includes The River (Co-Director & Aerial Cinematographer), examining the legacy of the 1955 lynching of Emmett Till, and the PBS documentary An Army Rising Up, where I served as Camera Operator and Grip.

I’m currently developing feature documentary projects exploring civil rights legacy and contemporary cultural movements, while also leading media education initiatives through my production company and nonprofit.

I joined Stage 32 to connect with producers, impact partners, and creatives who are serious about building meaningful, scalable documentary work.

Looking forward to learning from and collaborating with this community.

Best,

Jose

Hi Sharda,

Thank you — I appreciate that! I’m looking forward to diving in and connecting with more creatives here. Always great to be in rooms where people are building with intention.

Looking forward to crossing paths more inside the community.
