A character-driven indie blending the humanity of Alexander Payne with the tone of Frances Ha, set in the NYC art world

Hi everyone — I’ve written a feature screenplay titled Uncovering Comets, a lyrical, character-driven drama set in New York’s gallery scene.

It follows a mid-thirties curator who quietly begins to unravel and rebuild her identity as she steps out from behind the artists she promotes and risks being seen for her own work—while navigating questions of time, motherhood, and what it means to live a meaningful life.

The script blends the observational humanity of Alexander Payne with the lyrical, introspective tone of Frances Ha—more about sitting with a character and feeling her life than following a plot-driven narrative. It leans into mood, character, and visual storytelling, including montage sequences tied to the protagonist’s artwork.

I’m looking to connect with:

– Indie producers

– Directors drawn to character-driven stories

– Artists or creatives who resonate with this space

If this sounds like your kind of story, I’d love to share it. Thanks so much.
