The Hands That Beat The Drum

I am building out a fundraising page for my short film, The Hands That Beat The Drum. We've already raised half the budget, so now I'm putting together the public campaign to cover the rest and move into production. It's a bilingual piece — Haitian Kreyòl and English — about a father and daughter, grief, and what gets passed down through culture. Specifically through drumming. would love to connect with other filmmakers as I embark on this journey as a first-time director.

Jores Philippe, Jr. This sounds like a beautiful and meaningful project especially the focus on culture, grief, and generational connection through music.

The bilingual aspect and use of Haitian Kreyòl also give it a strong, authentic voice, which is great to see.

Congrats on already raising half the budget that’s a big achievement. For the next phase, a strong campaign video and clear emotional hook will really help connect with a wider audience.

Wishing you the best as you move into production would love to see how this develops.
