While I've been on Stage32 for several years, I've never formally introduced myself. I was mostly on Coverfly, but that's been dead for nearly a year now, and I'm finally starting to feel like I'm finding my footing again. Soooo, hi!
My parents named me Chance after John Wayne's character in RIO BRAVO, and they were both fairly liberal with what I watched as a child, so my passion for the art of filmmaking was bound to be ignited.
I live in a small town (pop. 2491) in Northeast Texas - living "life behind the pine curtain," as some would say - but you'd never guess it from the stories I create. Drawing inspiration from classic cinema and my own vivid dreams, my screenplays range from what's been called “smart and sophisticated” dramas to “depraved” and “gruesome” horror.
One of my biggest influences is Robert Altman, so I lean more towards character-driven narratives with sharp, naturalistic dialogue and unconventional characters. Of course, that also means I enjoy playing with narrative conventions, rather than hitting all the same ole familiar beats, all the while exploring provocative themes rooted in my own anxieties and experiences.
On that note, I believe any good screenplay should speak for itself, so please feel free to check out my work and come to know me even more.
