Ever since I was a kid and saw Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men, I’ve been fascinated with the ability of a director to turn what’s essentially a play into a movie without making it a movie. At the end of production, the only difference between the 12 Angry Men movie and a play is the movie is on a screen, it’s not live. Far less directors have taken on the challenge of filming a movie in one room. It’s an amazing feat to me to be able to hold an audiences attention in a format that could be a live play. I’m not a director. Is it more or less difficult in your opinion to direct a one room movie in a way that remains captivating for 90 minutes or more?
