One thing I’ve learned while developing my own projects is that understanding the business side of the film and television industry is just as important as the creative side.

Many authors and creators hope to see their work adapted for the screen, but it’s not always clear how different producers operate or how projects are developed and financed.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve launched the Creator Resource Library—a growing collection of free resources designed to help creators better understand the industry.

The first resource, Traditional Film Producers vs Independent Film Producers, explores the differences between these two producer models, how they approach development and financing, and the questions creators should consider before entering professional partnerships.

If you’re an author thinking about adapting your book into a film or television project, or a screenwriter looking to better understand the producer landscape, I hope you find it useful.

You can explore the free resource here:

I’d also love to hear what other topics you think would be valuable for future resources.

Hey Courtney, this is Sandra from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Producing to Screenwriting, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!
