I really enjoyed this week's Coffee & Content from RB, especially the discussion about reinvention and the importance of finding the right opportunities rather than simply chasing more opportunities.
As composers, I think it's easy to feel that we should be sending our music everywhere in the hope that something sticks. But in my experience, the best connections happen when there's a genuine creative fit. Taking the time to understand a filmmaker's vision, the type of stories they tell, and whether your musical voice complements that project often leads to much more meaningful conversations.
RB also makes a great point about researching who you're approaching. Whether you're pitching a script or introducing yourself as a composer, understanding what someone is actively looking for can make all the difference.
I'd love to hear what other composers think. When you're networking, what matters most to you: finding the right creative fit, building industry relationships, or simply getting your work in front of more people?
