JFC - My Audience

To be honest this has kind of baffled me. I am pulled between liking R-rated comedies (Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass was fun!) and creating content that is family friendly and accessible to kids and grownups alike without pandering to much to one age group. I met a couple a casting agent and she gave me some great advice to really focus on one particular audience. I don't like to box myself in but I also recognize the value in building an audience and they need consistency. So right now, I'm at a cross roads. I have some family friendly content written, I also have a fun (to me at least) R-rated comedy I'm writing that I wonder if I should put a pause on and focus on my next family friendly script. There is no shortage of ideas, I'm just dealing with a writing identity crisis. I guess for the near future, that is what I need to figure out so I can focus my efforts.
