A little bit about me...

Hello, greetings and salutations! My name is Thomas Baggaley. I am a composer and am always on the lookout for new and challenging projects to work on. I studied music at Brigham Young University and at UCLA, where I had the opportunity to study film scoring with the late Jerry Goldsmith. My own film scoring career was just getting started when I accepted the challenge of developing degree programs in media music (commercial music composition) and music recording technology at Salt Lake Community College, which at the time only had a single songwriting class as far as commercial music applications go. Seven years later, the commercial music program at SLCC is the first of its kind in the state of Utah and has been so successful that already two other colleges in the state have used it as a model for developing their own commercial music programs. With the bulk of that project mostly completed now, I have begun to turn my attentions back to looking for more opportunities and work as a composer. During the past several years, I have worked with Frank Gerrish as composer-in-residence for the SLCC Black Box Theater, writing music for such productions as King Lear, Inspecting Carol, and others as well as taking on other compositional and arranging assignments to keep a sharp edge on my dramatic and compositional skills. I have also worked as music director for local theatrical productions such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and play French horn and write arrangements for the Salt Lake Pops Orchestra. I am eager to find new opportunities and new challenges in my first love, which is composing for film and television. Also, because I teach film scoring and other courses in music composition at SLCC, I would always be interested in finding opportunities for my advanced students to work on projects, perhaps student films or other low-budget productions that do not have much of a budget for music but could provide a good experience for my students who are interested in working in film, television or theater. I look forward to getting to know and work with many of you in the near future!
