Matt Rollins – Male, Late 20's to early 30's, Caucasian, average to slim build, cute but in a very innocuous way Matt is a sensitive guy who has been hurt one too many times, actually probably more like 5 or 10 too many times but in any event he now has hidden his sensitive bruised heart so far beneath a crusty layer of cynicism that even he isn't sure how to break out of this cycle of self fulfilling date prophecy. He trudges on, despite all the forces against him (Dave, fate and his own negativity) because, even though he might not admit it, he knows he still wants to love and be loved. Matt has a Teflon sense of humor which ranges from dry and sarcastic to hyperbolic cynicism. He is friendly but slightly dark and carries a weight from his past that he keeps close to his chest. He laughs easily at himself or others and cares for his friends. He has no problem showing emotion to those close to him but is reticent to let new people in too easily. One of the defining character traits of Matt is the detached way in which he views romantic events in his life, he has become so jaded to dating problems that he observes the wreckage of a relationship or date almost as if it is happening to someone else and he is commentating on it. This allows him to insulate himself with his humor. Dave Dennis – Male, Late 20's to early 30's, Caucasian, athletic build, handsome and hip Dave is Matt's best friend and confidante, Dave is what women would call a “dog”. He views women as prey and has no aspirations of love or commitment. He is the foil to Matt's love attempts as he sees no point in love. Where Matt is cynical but has an undercurrent of hope, Dave is simply a romantically amoral animal. One night stands are no more wrong to him than killing a gazelle is to a lion. He is a static being as opposed to Matt who internally longs to grow. Dave is very much a Lothario, he carries himself in a way that says he is always on the prowl. Hair always casually perfect, dressed like a walking Guess jeans ad and never misses an opening to throw in a lewd, suggestive line. Bumstein – Male, 50-65, Caucasian, average build, raggedy clothes but otherwise neat and well groomed Bumstein is a homeless gentleman who fell from high up the corporate ladder due to a type of mental breakdown. He is now the quiet champion of the homeless population in the area and organized them in a group. He is a quiet, soft spoken man who has accepted his role in life and is comfortable being what he is. He is philosophical and wise although he does not advertise this, he keeps most of his thoughts to himself and the wheels in his brain are always turning. Stu Duggan – Male, Late 20's to early 30's, Caucasian, slender, balding,meticulously groomed and professional in appearance Stu is Wendi's current live-in boyfriend, they seem ill-suite for each other. Stu is a borderline OCD control freak. He is uptight and schedule oriented and plans everything. He hates disorder and chaos and is juvenile when opposed or made angry. He is emotionally stunted and is capable of mean and petty behavior when he feels he has been wronged. Cyndi Devans – Female, Late 20's to early 30's, Caucasian, slender, beautiful in a very classic way. Cyndi is Matt's ex from way back in his past and the issues that plague him today have their roots in their failed romance.
