The meeting

Greetings! I have received inquiries from a few of my friends from Stage 32 asking what it is that I do, so I thought it was best to show you. I am an independent filmmaker, director, producer, actress, trying to make my way like most of you. I don't expect success to come over night, but I do expect success to come with enough determination - and focus! With eight years in the industry, some of the most valuable information I've learned is to have a strong support group. If you think you can do it all by yourself, you are dead wrong! Knowledge that has taken me years to learn, others are now learning in a matter of months, primarily the use of a good support team. To those of you starting out, I would encourage you to network as much as you possibly can and learn from what others are doing around you; in addition, show your support, give thanks to those who help you, and return the favor by making others aware of that person's benefit to you - someone out there may need your help one day! The next important thing is to learn how to market yourself. I used to think that an agent or manager had to do all the work for me, but after going months, even years, without any real work, I began to realize that it was just as much my job to get myself out there as much as it was theirs. My advice here is to be smart, and build yourself according to your means (make a personal website or 800casting or Actors Access, the list goes on...; join film and actor groups in your area, do as much work as you possibly can. You will eventually acquire a substantial amount of work for your resume, on top of making a significant amount of connections. You may or may not even find out if this is the right industry for you, or find that you like certain parts more than others.) I, like many I have observed, have learned to utilize people around me in ways that I had not even first considered. This only came by figuring out exactly what I wanted to do with my talent; moreover, figuring out how my talent could also bring out or inspire the potential in others. I thought I only wanted to be an actress, and I still plan to make it the silver screen one day, but along the way I have discovered that can also be the director, the producer, the writer, and the entrepreneur, and enable others to live out their dreams in addition to my own - right from their back yards, if need be! I hope all of you enjoy this little short I have put together; it will be one of many. "Follow your bliss." - JC THE MEETING: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcEl-Kvebww
