Post-Production : Sound vs. Picture by D. DaVinci

Sound vs. Picture

It goes without saying that finding a amazing sound person for your film is half the battle. Cause if you got a film that has bad sound then forget about it. It is as important as the picture. So with that I want to praise all those Sound people that take pride in what they do. As a Director there is nothing more rewarding then listening to dialogue and ambient sound in clarity. Not just the required sound but balanced sound. Just had to bring this up for new Indie Directors getting started.

Amen to that. As a sound editor I can attest to the hundreds of hours it takes to create good audio for a film. We always appreciate a thankful client.

Thank god SOMEONE notices and cares! LOL. People have not one clue to the endless hours of building and breaking down and then rebuilding, just to rebuild again. Can anyone say "version number 6, 7, 8, 9, 10"....and then going back to the first edition!? It's only normal, so...thanks D. DaVinci for A) having good ears, and B) letting us know that you appreciate! Peace.

I'm a camera operator. When I am talking to a low budget director about working on a movie I always ask who is doing audio. I have lost track of how many times I am then asked, "Doesn't your camera record sound?"

Rusty Dunn

Yeah, totally! :) Our response should be "does your sound guy know what he's doing?" or "did you put new batteries in the mics" or "are we doing this for free.....No?....ok then, shut up and let me do my job!" hahahaha
