I have asked this question before but got no answer, so I'm trying again. I tried entering that screenplay competition, but they only told us how to pay the entry fee online. What about those of us who still write old-fashioned paper checks and send them through the snail mail? Is that no longer an option? How about an answer, Richard or somebody?

If the competition only accepts payment on line then sending a check is not an option. The most reliable answer will come from the competition itself. Write them and ask if they will an old-fashioned paper check through the snail mail. they will know much better than anyone else.
