Short based on Countess Constance Markievicz' involvment in the Easter Rising

I have a short about Countess Markievicz' involvement in the Easter Rising. I already have a director and producer over in Ireland interested in filming it. But we need another producer to come on board. If any one is interested in finding out more just message me here at Stage 32. I think it will make for a great film especially since it is about a woman involved in the Rising and the fact that the Rising Centennial will occur in 2016.

Margaret. I like historical drama. I wish you luck on the short. I am turning a feature into a mini-series, based on a biography I co-wrote. There didn't seem to be a hunger for these types of films, but I see some change in period piece. All good things.

P.S. --- I miss my kitties sitting on my scripts. Sometimes I had to send them out with cat paws all over them. Your photo brings all that back.

Margaret Avnet

Michael, thanks for the connection. I like writing historical dramas. I'm convinced I got my love of history from my paternal grandfather who I unfortunately never go to meet. My cats don't lie on my scripts but my grey tabby, Potcheen, loves to sit in front of the monitor when I'm in front of the computer. Good luck with the mini-series.

Margaret, How did you get on with this? I have a feature length script about Constance. She was a relation of mine and I'm focusing on the woman at the heart of the events. I need a producer to get this into development.

Margaret Avnet

Hi Diane: I had worked with the director before and he knows the producer but the issue is we need another producer to get it off the ground. And we're still looking. That great that Constance was a relative of yours. It would be really great if we could get films like my short and your feature off the ground especially since they deal with women. I have an eleven and four year old niece and would like to see women treated more as equals to men

I think you should make it into a feature-length script. Then hire a U.S. or London casting director known for indie films to get the script out to name actors who might want to play the Countess for scale or a little more. Historical, foreign feminists sounds like Oscar-bait to me... I think before finding another producer you should find someone who wants to play the lead who is big. Then the producer and Irish Film Board money will come. You may have already thought of this but that is my 2 cents :)

Dave: Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks Dave for taking the time to post this. It's very helpful advice - Diane
