New Lounge post... Hi All, A film maker friend invited me to join you on stage32 because film makers like our software. I'm a software entrepreneur and amateur photographer/videographer who just wants to be able to send big files and folders of photos and videos fast, easy, and securely. We have spent years developing Scayl - "Email without Limits" to finally enable us to more easily send and receive any size attachment - photo album, or video - even raw HD to huge 4k UHD files. It is as easy to use as email. It is a free download here: www.scayl.com We would love to get your feedback. So far we have it working on Macs and PCs, mobile and tablet coming soon. Scayl is already being used to send films for production and to theaters, including submitting the winning 28.5 GB documentary to the 2012 Dallas Videofest. The record file so far is a 115 GB raw HD full length movie sent via Scayl from Hollywood to our Portland, Oregon offices. You're welcome to best the world record :-) For example, I just received a 14 GB film this morning with Scayl from one of our film maker advisors, Jeremiah Kaynor of Corvus Eye Productions. I got it over slow bandwidth so it took a while, but it was faster and easier and cheaper than anything else including FedEx/DHL. It is much faster than any other application for sending big files. A first send, e.g., 500 MB, from one to one goes 3x faster than an upload and download to and from Dropbox and if you send to 3-5 colleagues at once it will go 4-5x faster because it has multisource delivery technology we call mesh. It sends at line speed, e.g., a GB a minute over a gigabit per second LAN. Scayl sends directly so it is more private and secure. Your computer or your source computer or cloud storage facility, needs to be online to complete transfer and receipt. It has smart resume so it will pick up where it left off if you have to take a break. Remember to leave your power on because it won't send or receive in the event your machine is turned off. All the film school students are liking Scayl on the filmmakers network managed by student filmmakers magazine. We're just about to release the folder attach feature too which is going to be great. I am tired of being unable to send out a couple hundred photos in a message and now we can. Until that is released you can send a folder in Scayl by zipping. It can support DRM too and we are working on that in the lab. We are exploring how to directly deliver film with a digital FedEx like model so creators can keep more of the value of their work and Anyone can receive anything digital of any size for free from now on. After our free beta and you've sent like a terabyte, we will be doing a Skype-like credit and pennies per gigabyte for files over a gigabyte in size, like a stamp, and much less than paying $0.15 to $0.05 a GB for a plain download. Stage 32 looks like a great network. Really happy to join the crew. Hope you find Scayl useful and give us constructive feedback on how to improve. Best, Bill
