"Slickly professional in every particular..." The LA Times (http://bit.ly/bYt81y) "A palpable sense of infectious goofiness..." The LA Weekly (http://bit.ly/19b9Zns) For over 10 years, "Fake Radio" has been presenting its comedic take on classic radio shows from "The Golden Age" of radio. Our unique blend of original broadcast scripts along with unexpected improvised dialogue has been delighting audiences and critics for years. Our shows capture the magic of being in the studio audience during a live taping of an old time radio show. The troupe performs in the same fashion utilized in the Golden Age: standing before microphones, with scripts in hand and sound effects synchronized perfectly. Only, a bit more is risked: in order to bring a reverent, yet comedic attack on the classic scripts, the talented troupe & guest stars sometimes improvise when the moment is right...much to the delight of the audience. Join us for a very special ONE NIGHT ONLY engagement at the Arclight Movie Theatre in Hollywood! On Thursday, October 3rd, we'll be re-creating on of the great sci-fi stories of all time, Lux Radio Theatre's 1954 broadcast of "The Day the Earth Stood Still"! Lux Radio Theatre’s “The Day the Earth Stood Still” An alien (Klaatu) with his mighty robot (Gort) land their spacecraft on Cold War-era Earth just after the end of World War II. They bring an important message to the planet that Klaatu wishes to tell to representatives of all nations. However, communication turns out to be difficult, so, after learning something about the natives, Klaatu decides on an alternative approach. The film was so popular, it was re-written for the radio and originally broadcast in 1954 for the Lux Radio Theatre. As he was so popular in the film release, Michael Rennie accepted Lux Radio's invitation to reprise his role as the alien Klaatu in the radio adaptation! Previous guest stars include: Emmy-winners John Larroquette & Marcia Wallace; Comedy legends Fred Willard, The Kids in the Hall, & Phil Proctor from The Firesign Theatre; noted alternative comedians Jeff Garlin, Tom Kenny, Maria Bamford & Rick Overton; well-established actors such as John Lynch, Debra Skelton & Dean Cain and original Saturday Night Live cast member, Larraine Newman.
