Protecting Copyrights

I've been wary of accepting friendship requests from anyone outside North America or the EU for fear it would be harder to go after copyright infringements. Is there anything to this or are my fears completely unfounded?

Copyright can be a daunting area, but it's actually quite straight forward. The Library of congress (LOC) it the most effective way to protect your project. However... You cannot protect an idea, only your interpretation of it. If you suspected infringement, you would have to be able to prove the accused had "access" to your script in order to steal it. The odds of anyone stealing your story is slight, but ideas are universal. Thus, a similar idea doesn't mean they stole yours.
