I haven't yet seen Noah but am most entertained by the PR gimmicks used to promote it including an attempt to get Pope Francis to see it. An audience between him and Russell Crowe would be an immortal comic moment. The last time I saw the Flood it was in John Huston's The Bible and that lengthy bore even made Sodom and Gomorrah dreary. George Stevens's The Greatest Story ever told was far worse. After the catastrophes of Troy and Alexander the swords and sandals movies, which scored with Gladiator, have only remained in comic book form with the super 300 followed by Birth of an Empire with blood all over my 3-D specs!
Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ is not a conventional biblical epic, more a personal road to Golgotha
Hi Richard I just saw Noah!!! It is a total flop! Sorry but the script was so bad at one point it felt the actors were left to make up the plot themselves. I cannot believe for the life of me how this film got the go ahead on such a weak script. I actually felt totally embarrassed for some of the actors. I also cannot believe someone of Russel Crow's stature would even get involved in such a movie! Sorry it does not even get 1 out of 10 from me! Are actors purely driven by money ?? Sometimes I seriously wonder where people's heads are at !
I honestly felt when I came out of the movie I had been totally conned !! It felt like a very bad remake of Lord Of The Rings at one point. I mean did the producers actually believe they could deceive a whole world wide audience with a few special effects tricks ????
I've been seeing the glories of Madrid and missed both previews. It sounds awful, I will discover in Friday! Crowe can be marvellous as in The Insider, Master and Commander and Gladiator and also can be badly miscast as in Robin Hood etc
