Hello everyone! A friend of mine (not on Stage 32, but I'm in the conversion process) is putting together a film scoring group and just thought I would pass the information along. This group is for anyone interested in learning more about/getting more experience with film scoring. He stressed that this will be a very informal thing. His thoughts are this: 1.) Watch visual media (linear and interactive) to talk about the composition/production techniques used by industry professionals. 2.) Eat pizza. 3.) Share our work with one another in an environment of positive critique from people who won't just call your stuff "pretty." 4.) Create a communal pool of knowledge about the industry and how to survive in it. 5.) Create an environment of open collaboration with one another to compose, record, and/or mix. 6.) Eat pizza. He also stressed that experience level and specialty are irrelevant. All composers/engineers/performers/whoever else are.. is... are welcome. (Oh, English grammar). If this is something you would be interested in, feel free to send me a message or whatever, and I will pass information along to you as I get it. Happy music-ing, Brandi Thomas
I would definately interested in that. Is it online or would I have to be in a specific area because I'm actually in NY
As of right now, you would have to be located in Tallahassee. I'll throw the idea of live streaming over to my buddy and let you know what he says, though!
OKAY - here's the dealio. So, as long as I can figure out how to live stream, and the audio quality isn't just mush, live stream is a go. So uh... if you've ever done live streaming before... I would sincerely appreciate your input/guidance.
Hi Brandi. I'd suggest the free and easy to use Google Hangout. I've found the streaming to be very reliable and it's well suited to multiple participants. http://www.google.com/hangouts/
Thanks, Raul! I'm familiar with Google Docs/Drive/etc., but I have yet to explore Google Hangouts. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely look into it.
I would definitely like this opportunity, nothing like working and learning from great minds.
Helloooo, just an update for those who are interested. We had our first meeting on Tuesday where we discussed the format of future meetings. At this time, I am not sure if live streaming would suit the format of our meetings, but if this changes, I will definitely let you all know. I will do my best to keep you all updated on what we do in our meetings/topics we discuss if that is still something of interest - just let me know. Next week, we will be watching "Up" and having a discussion of the music after watching the film.
