Henry Tate

Well, I would like to quickly introduce myself. My stage name as well as my facebook name is Henry Tate. I have always enjoyed acting on stage as my first appearance was in 1969 when I was cast in the ensemble in the play Once Upon a Mattress. During 1980 and 1981 while in the US Army and assigned to a military base in Belgium, I appeared with the SHAPE Players as Clifford Anderson in Death Trap; Richare in Fringe Benefits; William Detweiler in How The Other Half Loves; Ike Skidmore in Oklahoma and the ensemble in South Pacific. In 1993, I had the opportunity to be in front of a camera for the first time in the movie, The Program. Although, I did not have a speaking part, I was sitting behind the sports announcers pretending to be an analysist. I could also be seen in the locker room behind James Caan holding a microphone. Upon retiring from the military in 1993, I kicked around in various jobs until I finally decided to retire from the work world and return to my favorite hobby which is acting on stage. I started with playing the part of Howe and was in the ensemble in Annie at Alverson Center Theatre in Anderson, SC in November 2013. I then appeared as Heck Tate in To Kill a Mockingbird in February 2014 and as Sir Henry Angkatell in The Hollow in May 2014 at Easley Foothills Playhouse in Easley, SC. I have recently completed a role as Lord Pettigrew Peabody, The Baron of Pickford, in Cinderella at the Abbeville Opera House. I am currently preparing for the roles of Mr. Stephens, Rev Matthew Bliss, and the male voice in Carrie, The Musical also at the Abbeville Opera House. In the future I hope to be playing the part of Boston in The Christmas Foundling at the Clemson Little Theatre in Pendleton, SC. This will be a challenge for me because I need to develop a Boston accent. Well, that's me pretty much in a nutshell as far as my acting endeavors thus far. Where will it take me, only God knows my future, I just take it one day at a time and give Him the glory of it all.
