Hello folks, Samuel Brantley here, 35 year old film maker in New Orleans, LA. The nutshell version of my bio - I originally never had a thought of going into making movies. I just wanted to be a writer. I tried my hand at stand-up comedy and improv, then spoken word performance (whatever the hell that is) and had fun doing it all, both in New Orleans when I was in college, and in New York City after college. Then began to find my voice as a writer off-stage. Moved back to New Orleans and was in a "playing with myself but getting nothing done" moment of my life until I ended up answering a want add for help in writing a screenplay. That ended up becoming the first screenplay I would work on, "The Nearly Amazing Blackstone" which you can check out on my centerfold, I mean, profile, if you fancy. Since then while holding on to the good old fashioned soul crippling day job in an office I've completed several screenplays in collaboration (one of which, "Villain" is also up for a read here on S32) and one all by my lonesome. None of which have sold or won anything probably in large part due to my own lack of putting them out there enough. I tend to have that bad habt of working on another project before actually trying to sell anything I've already completed. Over the past year I have been producing and directing a documentary called "Rolling With Kings" about a Mardi Gras sub-krewe here in New orleans called The Krewe of the Rolling Elvi. While it has consumed more of my life than I could have thought, it has been amazing, and I have learned a fuck ton along the way. Good thing too, never had a minute of actual film school. By the by, good DP's and editors are worth more than their weight in gold. Just saying. So here I am, doing more social networking because it's apparently great for networking AND avoiding dealing with mundane family home life. My sarcasm aside, I do look forward to meeting other like minded film makers, and hopefully new people to collaborate with. Feel free to hit me up sometime. PS I absolutely promise you I will NOT send you some cut and pasted message about voting for my this or that, or "liking" this or that, or viewing some clip here or there, or any similar bullshit as I find that to be incredibly annoying. Seems there are places to do just that on this site without simply adding to one's network to e-beg for attention. Nothing personal on anyone who does that, I get it, that's part of what this Stage 32 thing is for. All the same, aside from posting in the appropriate spots about upcoming fundraisers for my film, or trying to get anyone to read my stuff, I won't bug you or fill your inboxes with such noise.
