SYNOPSIS:

This is a compelling love story that witnessed tug of war between duties and emotions, set against the backdrop of the lush tea gardens of Assam, the film revolves around the life of Rukmini, a girl from the tea tribe community who loves a local youth called Ramchandra. Engaged as a domestic help, Rukmini has a very practical and forthright approach towards life. Her employers are quite fond of her because she performs her work to their utmost satisfaction. Rukmini develops a good rapport with their daughter and both become friends and closest confidantes. Life goes on smoothly until an incident turns Rukmini's life upside down. Her father suffers alcohol poisoning and is rushed to the hospital. However the doctor fails to save not just her father but a lot of other patients who were rushed to the hospital because of the same reason. This angers the villagers who go on a rampage and destroy the hospital premises. This leads to a sequence of events where Rukmini finds herself uprooted from her home. Her relationship with Ramchandran too,now a tea tribe leader comes under stress. He has always believed that they have been exploited by their employers and are living a life of bondage. This thought has always kept him rebellious in nature. On the other hand Mini, after her varied experiences strives for greener pastures outside of the labour colonies. Caught in the conflict between her workplace and her love, what would Rukmini do? Would she act practical? Or would she let her emotions take over. How Rukmini extricates herself from this predicament and resolves the contradiction is what Mini essentially explores.
