BASED IN MUMBAI - HIRING: DOCUMENTARY FILM SEEKING A STORY EDITOR/SCRIPT SUPERVISOR & WRITER Story Editor/Script Supervisor & Writer to work on a documentary film which looks at artists behind-the-scenes in Bollywood. We are two filmmakers who have been co-directing and producing a feature documentary for the last 4 years, intimately following the lives of four behind-the-scenes artists and workers who work in Bollywood. The four characters' stories are intertwined to tell the story of making it in Bollywood and moreover, the worlds' of reality and fantasy they are caught between while trying to dream big and find a place in the industry. We have three intriguing and quirky stories of: Harry, a foreign actor who has stumbled into a career as an actor; Premji, a powerful but doubtful Union leader who has become the ‘leader’ of the laborers on set; Ojas, a transgender 'diva' make-up artist who has become the artist behind the look of top Bollywood actresses. Tied in with these stories representing the world of Bollywood, the main character is Pooja whose journey we follow. Pooja is a small-town girl who comes to the big city of Mumbai with big ambitions to follow the footsteps of her idol, Madhuri Dixit. As she navigates her way into the industry, she finds herself working as a backup dancer and eventually struggling in the competitive landscape of Bollywood and realizing the only way she can land work is if she bares all and markets herself as an 'item girl'. Her story is complicated because at home she is the only earning member, her older sister Sonali gets an arranged marriage, and her mother is disapproving of her career in this 'loose' industry. At this point, we have hours of footage and a 20 minute cut we show to potential funders and distribution companies. We have also created a 50 minute cut in which we have laid out all four narrative plot points, however it is missing THEMATIC structure which will only happen through the Voiceover links. So we need a STORY EDITOR/SCRIPT SUPERVISOR & SCRIPT WRITER, preferably someone with knowledge about the Bollywood industry & entertainment world who could pull together facts & figures and work on weaving the stories together. Hey Ruchika, a few days ago we implemented a new privacy setting to give you the option of accepting private messages only from users within your network. Today, I discovered a bug with the way this option is set for new users. I just wanted to let you know that the bug is now fixed, so all members are now able to receive private messages from any other member (the default setting).
