A sandwich, made from pheasant meat, became a symbol for the wartime generosity of the community of Aberdeen, South Dakota During World War II. This film documents the volunteers working to preserve this legacy and paints a picture of what Aberdeen was like during WWII despite it being no where near the war effort. The pheasant sandwich was served to over 500,000 troops from 1943 to 1946. Interviews with WWII vets and those who helped serve the sandwiches tell a tale of a town that wanted to do it's part to help those over seas and honor those who gave the greatest sacrifice.
