Aurora (2013)

Full Overview

Mya is a young woman on her own personal journey, which quickly becomes a complex story as we learn that earlier in her life that journey was not by choice because she was kidnapped and sexually trafficked. We meet Mya six years later trying to start a family with the Doctor (Tobi) who saved her life. Mya is given an address from her partner Tobi who encourages her to visit this certain place, in order to help overcome her past trauma. Mya tries to disregard the advice only to realize that the past is drowning her present life. With Tobi's blessing, Mya begins the journey to the address. The short alternates from past and present as Mya suffers from flashbacks triggered by her post traumatic stress. We travel with Mya, by car and foot as she struggles through an emotional journey to reach the doorstep of her biological daughter. By meeting her daughter, Mya understands that something beautiful has been born from her haunting past allowing her to finally accept her partner's pregnancy. Written by La Femme Films
