'A troubled girl wanders into the wilderness trying to reconcile the proud history of her race, and it's place in modern society' The suicide rate for Native American youth is nearly three times that of any other racial group. This short video and music, attempts to highlight the issue as sensitively as possible, without pointing fingers, rather an attempt to join hands in unity and through our common humanity, stop this tragedy. The video features a specially recorded beautiful Iroquois chant by Grammy winner Joanne Shenandoah and a new Native rap star Lightfoot Wiley. Senator Byron Dorgan (ret), founder of the Center for Native American Youth in Washington, DC., supports the project and provided the background information on the issue. Indian youth suicide cannot be looked at in a historical vacuum, Dorgan said.
