For the last seventeen years I have worked extensively teaching, directing and managing Performing Arts projects and provision to a diverse range of people and organisations in the North West of England. This has been supported by nearly 30 years of experience of working in the Entertainment Industry in Theatre Television, Film and Radio as an actor, director, presenter, stage manager and set designer.
Through extended experience as a teacher, I have developed excellent skills in: communication (the ability to explain differing levels of material and information to a diverse range of people); interpersonal skills; having empathy, patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations; collaborative skills enabling me to work productively with colleagues; creative and presentation skills enabling me to engage, motivate and hold the attention of an audience; the facility to assess, self assess and evaluate.
Through management experience and my work as a theatre director I have developed the skills to formulate and communicate a clear vision and have a leadership style that is decisive, yet open to collaboration and inspiration. I have and am able to take responsibility for meeting high standards of art and production quality and am able to work within planned budgets and time schedules. I have also demonstrated skill and ability in co-ordinating and liaising between different departments within large-scale productions (production, marketing, front-of-house, lighting, sound, set and costume design). I am able to access, enthuse motivate inspire actors in creating role and performance. All these skills are transferrable to many various environments and situations.
