About Thomas

I hitched a ride to L.A., from Missouri, in February of 1982 and got on my first film in May 1982, an AFI director's project. My first job as an assistant director was in January 1985 on a commercial and I became a member of the Directors Guild of America in October 1985. My work experience includes commercials, films, television, and music videos, with most of it being on single camera, film-style projects. There have also been a few multi-camera shows, as well.

I have received two awards over my career, a DGA Award for "The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader Murdering Mom", directed by Michael Ritchie, and "The Communicators, Award of Distinction" for the DVD "Getting Involved With Leona valley Sertoma", which I produced, wrote, directed, and edited. After much consideration, I decided to retire a few years ago, which in our industry means you could work and would work, if the project really appeals to you. I still on rare occasion have worked more so to spend time "back in the saddle", as they say, with people I highly respect. Of course, my SAG card is always ready to be pulled out and dusted off should the phone ring.

Outside of my on-set work, I started Film It USA, an online film resource listing site, to make it easy for people to list their resources for use by the film industry. It focused on properties and vehicles and allowed producers, location scouts, and picture car coordinators to search, view, and talk directly with an owner. People managed their own resources and paid no commissions, instead paying a low priced subscription fee and keeping 100% of the production fees for the use of their resources.

******************************
NOTE: Film It USA has gone dark and a focus on building regional resource sites to serve specific areas, with Film It USA redesigned to help promote and direct productions to the these sites. This should allow producers to focus on areas where they are interested in filming, while exposing them to other potential places to film. One site has been launched, Film It Dallas, but the individual who was going to take ownership did not. It is modeled after Film It USA and can be viewed at , but note the “search” database function is not turned on. See the Recent Listings to view what a location listing contains. Anyone interested in taking ownership of Film It Dallas, or having a site built for another region is welcome to contact me at filmitusa@.
