About Tora

Tora Chung is a San Francisco-based writer and filmmaker. She is currently working with the Scary Cow Film Collective to produce short narrative films in the Bay Area. Concurrent to her recent stint in the wine business, she directed a YouTube commercial for and served as contributing writer to Anglotopia.net’s film blog, line editor for several novels, reader for Zoetrope: All-Story, juror for the San Francisco International Film Festival’s Golden Gate Awards and screener for the Mill Valley Film Festival. Her screenplays have been finalists for the Sundance Screenwriters’ Lab, the Page International Screenwriting Awards and Kodak’s Aperture Short Script Grant. Following several years in events and development at the San Francisco International, Mill Valley Film and Sundance Film Festivals, she produced several short films for LA 48 Hour Film Festival and worked for Columbia, Paramount, Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures as a producer’s assistant and production coordinator on such films as Pineapple Express, Superbad, Beowulf, Syrian, Superman Returns, Monster House, Spanglish and The Hulk. She attended Smith College and U.C. Berkeley, where she studied comparative literature and film theory.
