I escaped into music and books as a kid. Music and language have been my life in one form or another.
At Northwestern University, I majored in linguistics and production/communication. Among the classes I took were Arabic, storytelling, TV directing, Greek drama, playwriting, screenwriting, and acting. I also sang in the Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Performing wasn't my passion, however: I thrive on doing the jobs that make singers' and actors' jobs possible and easier. In almost twenty years in the music business, I have been in artist management, event production, recording production, booking, marketing, promotion, recording-studio administration, you name it. I currently hold a position as advisor to http://gigable.net, a new platform (just 2 years since it was launched) which helps musicians organize house concerts. We are also working on several things that haven't been added, yet.
When the Napster era changed the music business, I switched careers to teaching English as a second language. If you have a question about why some grammar point is whack or what the difference is in usage of two synonyms, I'm your go-to; I can probably explain it readily.
So--language and performing arts. A few story ideas I had after college but which were put on a back burner during my years in the music industry have resurfaced and been realized into full-length screenplays. I've always loved to write, and I have stories to tell; however, I am looking for professional full-time administrative (facilitator) work in L.A. in music or film, as well.
Thanks for reading about what drives me.
