Christopher DeWan is an award-winning creator of short fiction, screenplays, stageplays, and new media.
He has published numerous short stories, in journals recently including A cappella Zoo, Bartleby Snopes, The Doctor T. J. Eckleburg Review, Jersey Devil Press, and wigleaf. He is a winner of The Binnacle's "Ultra-Short Competition" and Grey Sparrow Journal's "Snow Jewel" competition, and he has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize.
His screenwriting has been recognized by Slamdance, the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, and the Creative World Awards, where his TV pilot The Calling was a top finalist. A stageplay he co-authored, Clyt at Home, was shortlisted as "Best New Play" by the LA Weekly.
He works as a strategist and content creator for new media, and has collaborated on transmedia properties for Bad Robot, the Walt Disney Company, Universal Pictures, Paramount, Mattel Inc., and many others. In 2013, he was a featured copywriter on AMC's The Pitch.
He has an MFA in critical studies and theater from the California Institute of the Arts and an undergraduate degree in philosophy from Cornell University. He has been a consultant for the literary magazine Electric Literature, a contributor at the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, a member of the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley, and an instructor on the creative writing faculty of the California State Summer School for the Arts, teaching fiction and screenwriting.
