YouTube is the new television. And digital creators on Youtube are actively shaping the conversation around major industries like technology.
A well-known technology-focused comedic YouTube creator (think MyTechCEO or Programmers Are Also Human) is looking for a talented, funny, and self-driven writer and production coordinator. This is an opportunity for a talented person from a traditional film/TV background to join a fast-growing and dynamic team at the cutting edge of content. We are responding to and helping to influence a technology industry that is evolving incredibly fast while touching every area of our lives.
We want someone who can help us:
Identify interesting headlines and trends within technology and understand the potential for comedy
Write jokes and dialogue that work for a YouTube audience
Research technology companies and brands to evaluate if their products are good and whether we should work with them
Create visual assets for videos - ie, what screen or video or UI should appear on screen when we are talking about a product or workflow?
The perfect candidate:
Well-informed about the latest in the technology industry
Technically curious but not a technical writer. You can research engineering terms or industry jargon and come out with a clear story — but don’t need to be able to write code
Funny - for both a technical and general audience
Self-directed - we can give you an idea and you will come back with a fully formed opinion and tangible next steps
Experienced in writing and producing their own content
Has strong editorial taste
Come join a team of creators and filmmakers who are shaping the conversation around technology in and outside the industry.
Work details:
$30-50 per hour depending on candidate’s experience level
Work will start as project based with the mutual expectation to grow into a full time role over time
Remote with potential opportunities for on-set work
To Apply:
Please write a 60 second sketch for the Instagram account @mytechceo.
To be considered, you must also provide a signed pdf version of this script release form (adapted from Wrapbook's industry standard template). Please note that we will not review submissions without an accompanying release.
Please submit both to careers@stareable.com. There is no timeline - we will be reviewing submissions on a rolling basis. Any questions, please don't hesitate.
