Actor and filmmaker in Los Angeles, California

About Javier

Javier Ortiz was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and from a very early age his artistic aspirations where large. His first real project was writing and acting in productions using his sister’s 8mm video camcorder. As he grew older his passion moved towards music and his parents enlisted him into violin lessons, where he practiced and performed for over four years. Then during his teens his new passion became drawing and becoming an architect. In college, he was disappointed about not getting accepted into an architecture program, but quickly came to realize that his passion was filmmaking. He holds two college degrees, a BA from the Univ. of Houston in 2002, and an AS in film from Full Sail Univ. in 2004.

During his time at Full Sail he was accepted as an intern for the American Pavilion at the Cannes Festival in France. Then in 2005 he moved to Los Angeles and the constant struggles made him changed his career focus by 2010 to also include performing. Some of his acting training has ranged from improv, voice overs, standup and singing. He has studied with some of the brightest minds in comedy and performing arts in Los Angeles. He has participated in several comedy sketch groups and written several pilots and feature scripts that deal with Latino issues in the USA. He is looking forward to start his dream career performing and writing for a living. He currently lives in Hollywood with his amazing wife.
