About Katherine

Katherine (Kat) Hill is an award winning screenplay writer from the U.K who moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2004. She has an M.A in Film, a B.A in Film & Theatre and more recently graduated from the UCLA Screenwriting program.
She has a great passion for storytelling on social issues with strong female protagonists.

Kat began writing in 2005, when she couldn't find interesting roles for herself as an actor. She started writing as a way to explore that and ended up working towards bridging that gap for women in the film industry.
Her short screenplay, EMPTY has gained a lot of attention most recently as a dark, gritty and powerful film about the loss of a child to trafficking and what one parent will do to get them back. It is also a film about human connection and how we deal with loss in our lives as well as reach out to those around us.
