Can participating in "Independent Films" lead to being discovered? I see lots of postings for actors needed for Independent Films. I acknowledge that it is a great way to gain experience, but do casting directors/producers of big budget films ever take notice of these independent films?

Just look at how many big names have been in indie films, especially as of late, IE: Short Term 12. It's not really a matter of how "studio" or "indie" a project it, it comes down to how good the material is, and a good project will get eyes on it.
