I'm going the indie route with one screenplay I authored and plan on approaching a name level talent about a specific role. Should I secure a production company and director first or is it cool to contact the actor first?
@Chris, Thank you for the insight, but it doesn't fit either lounge. I'm a screenwriter approaching actors and their agents about attaching themselves to a script I wrote.
Typically, unless the actor has a production company (which could consider the script at early stage for the actor to star in and produce), you are not in the best position to approach him until your producer is making an official and exclusive offer with, ideally, at least partial financing in place.
