Acting : Memorizing by Jami Del Mar

Jami Del Mar

Whats the best way to memorize a monologue?

Anthony Styles

It is different for everyone. I sometimes record it and play it back to myself while doing other things, but that can stick you in a set pitch and sound dull. I find the best way is to sit down and read it over and over again, then hide it and see how far you can get without looking at it. Keep doing until set in stone. It is hard work, but anyone who says acting isn't, is not giving their all. It is great fun and we love/crave it, but it is hard work.

For me it's just reading it over and over....eventually it just sticks.

Check out " rehearsal 2 " app. $20 but it really helps me. Cut my time to memorize in half.

link the words to your body language and movement, to your body cues. for example: Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, Creeps in this petty pace from day to day, --- staring out into the horizon. To the last syllable of recorded time; And all our yesterdays have lighted fools--- shakes head The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle! -- clenches fist. just make your own body language cues.

Do puzzles it helps. I do sudoku.
