What is your go to method of breaking down a script when you first receive it? Do you look for the objectives first or do you let the emotional tone guide you?
I, personally break it down to the beats first. Determine my superobjective, then my objective for each scene, then each moment. What about you?

read the script first to understand the story then i will go through the dialogues to include mine. there are many techniques i use with i the body of the text. that I teach but the bottom line with all of it is to bring your human quality and understanding,, your opinion. your essence as a human to avoid that all too often presentational synthetic result as we see all too often with actors. Take in every detail I can before making choices! Then I re-read and start to think about things like objectives based on POV
