Faculty, students & industry professionals create a short film to showcase the talents of the department. STORY LINE: A drama with super-natural elements, this mother - daughter story is set against the background of New Orleans traditions. On the last day of her mother’s life, Lena Harper finds forgiveness & redemption at the place where life and death meet for a final celebration. All roles receive screen credit, DVD copy. Meals provided. • [LENA HARPER] CAST • [CECILY HARPER] 70’s, female, African American. A proud old woman, her body and mind are both failing her. From an old New Orleans creole family, she was once a singer. She never understood why her daughter Lena rejected the city and her roots, which Cecily is so deeply connected with….LEAD • [MAC FONTENOT] 40 – 60+, male, any ethnicity. A grizzled New Orleans character. Charming, an odd-ball. Poetic nature. … SUPPORTING • [YOUNG GIRL] should look 10 – 12, female, African American. A mysterious, graceful, girl – may be from another time. Never speaks but is key to Lena’s journey….FEATURED • [SKINNY OLD MAN] 50 – 80, male. African American. Weathered and lined face, could look like an apparition from another century. Does not speak but is important part of the mystery.…FEATURED. • [TOURIST MAN] 30+, male, any ethnicity (could be a foreigner), shopper at a local flea market, looking to take home a piece of New Orleans.….SUPPORTING • [TOURIST WOMAN], 30+, female, any ethnicity (could be a foreigner), wife or girlfriend of TOURIST MAN, skeptical of the flea market wares…. SUPPORTING • [TEENAGER #1] able to play 15 – 20 (must be 18+), male. African American. Very skillful bicyclist that needs to be able to ride a bike while carrying a passenger on the back or the frame. … FEATURED. • [TEENAGER #2] able to play 15 – 20 (must be 18+), male. African American. A passenger on the bicycle, he teases Lena as they ride by. … SUPPORTING • [STORYVILLE GIRL #1], 18 – 30, female, any ethnicity.
