This is not my area of expertise. I know people use GarageBand for recording and podcasting. I know people who also use ProTools, Audacity, and Ableton, some of which are likely too robust for what you need. There are lots of online resources if you care to Google.

I use audacity at my home studio. Once I got to know it I really liked it. As a beginner the software is free and useful.
