Animation : Drawing Out A Scene by Edward Dorsey

Drawing Out A Scene

Hey, guys. My screenplay "East Side Warriors" is in the critique/edit stage. To commemorate that I drew this image a while back and posted it here.

Even though this is live-action, I was asked to share this image with the Animation section. I'm also curious if anyone here draws out any of their scenes for their animated scripts? Or any type of media (lookbooks, animation tests, concept art, etc.)?

Hope everyone is doing well and Happy Writing!!! Logline: "A martial artist seeks to free his Hip-Hop influenced home from a trio of demons after discovering a weapon from his mother and a band of warriors."

Hi Edward! Congratulations on your script! Each new step is always a success worth celebrating. I draw a lot for my scripts (live-action or animated), and sometimes I even draw maps for fighting sequences or complicated scenes with a lot of characters. It helps me a lot to visualize what I'm writing.

Thanks, Christian!

That's awesome! Yeah, it definitely helps with visualizing with me as well. I always make mood boards for the tone I'm going for and sometimes mess around with Campfire to organize out my ideas.

I like the usage of live action/animation for a Samurai themed film. I’ve written a manga and had concept sketches in first. It’s basically a story board in what you want, even as the presentation will be different.
