Here are a couple differences. Indiegogo lets you decide between Flex and Fixed funding, while KS is simply Fixed. Indiegogo allows its algorithm to determine who lands on the Front Page of the site, whereas, KS curates its Front Page.
Thank you very much for the info Regina, I'll have to research a bit, not sure what the difference is between flex and fixed funding. Best Jf
Hey JF, luckily crowdfunding is one topic that is very transparent, and there are sooo many articles you can Google that compare the two platforms, give user tips, etc. You will have no trouble finding articles about both options!!
Regina many thanks for the insight and as I move forward I will let you know of my decisions and progress
Flex means you get whatever is donated regardless if you hit your target or not, and fixed means you must hit the specified amount.Flex is better to get something towards your project.Good luck to you sir, it's a tough game. All the very best.
Kev thanks for the info, much appreciated
I agree, I think that is the way I will go as well!
JF, have you taken a look in the Financing/Crowdfunding section of the Lounge? This post would be better placed there. :) Let me know, I can move it for you. :)
Thanks Beth, that would be great!
You got it, Jf. :)
from the research I have been doing on crowd funding I am finding that the best thing to do is a 30 day campaign.... when I start my campaign I am going to start on the 1st of a month that way when I am talking to people I ahead of time I can easily say during the month of September you will be able to donate to my Indiegogo page to make contributions if you would like to be apart of the process. I would suggest watching RB's videos. I have found that in the last 2 weeks I have learned so much about crowdfunding and am getting a better idea of what to do and how to approach things just by inventing a few hours whenever I can to researching and finding information out. Under education the on stage with RB from April had some good points and I cant even remember all the other videos I have watched but they have been easy to find. Also I have been finding youtube to be very informative when I type in successful crowdfunding.... also Steve Dessmond is teaching a webinar in a few weeks that sounds really great so you may want to check that out. :)
Marin, Kristina and Steven Thank you all for the wonderful information and best of luck with all of your projects, I will keep it all for future reference as I move forward Best Jf
I HIGHLy recommend checking out the upcoming webinar How To Use Crowdfunding To Make Your Film Project A Reality, as the host goes over the pros and cons of both Indiegogo and Kickstarter. He's a successful campaign runner and has some extremely valuable first hand experience on the platforms.
