Post-Production : Layers by Tony Glaser

Layers

So I was just interested in everyones opinion on something. I've been editing for years and I prefer to keep my timelines nice and compact because then I know where everything is. Better organization for me. Now I recently lost out on a job because the guy thought I didn't use enough layers, even though he liked the edit. Does this make me look not professional because I don't have a 20 layers in use? Am I not the only one out there that prefers tight timelines?

Stefan LaToure

@Tony - Everyone edits differently. If they liked your edit what difference does it make how you got to it? I like tight timelines as well. Did you give them a copy of your timeline or were they with you and saw your timeline?

Tony Glaser

I was in the project to give a demonstration for an effect I did. To me it doesn't matter and I didn't realize for some people and prospective jobs would go based on how your timelines were laid out. Some people, right?

Stefan LaToure

Some people!!!! You might be better off not having that gig.
